TIP ADULT - Transferring innovative adult educators’ practices
Lifelong learning is one of the priorities of the European Union. The strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training (ET 2020) aims at making lifelong learning a reality, improving the quality and efficiency of education and training, and promoting innovation and creativity, including entrepreneurial spirit, at all levels of education and training.
One of the key elements of the lifelong learning system is the adult educator, which has a major impact on the learners engaged in lifelong learning. While the development of course programmes and the engagement with new target groups has been in the focus so far, adult educators have been widely neglected. Research has revealed that adult educators need professional development directly to how to work with the adult audience.
The aim of the project is to promote the professional development of adult educators with good practice examples and to improve their competence by an educator to educator knowledge transfer. The project creates a platform where adult educators will be able to share and acquire micro-knowledge in different areas related to adult education such as (i) the analysis of learner needs, (ii) the motivation of adult learners as well as (iii) methods and techniques to work with an adult audience. The knowledge exchange has a particular emphasis on innovation, flexibility, and the use of new media and technologies. The development of good practices occurs in accordance to the success factors described by the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe (EPALE).
The project started in September 2019 and will organize good practice training in the field of professional development for adult educators, as well as the transfer of knowledge in the field of knowledge recognition, visualization, and sharing. The project is supported by the European Commission under the ERASMUS+ programme and the Swiss mobility and exchange agency MOVETIA.
